In 1972, after graduating with honors from the Chemistry Department of the Voronezh State University with a degree in physical chemistry, he entered graduate school at the Institute of Solid State and Semiconductor Physics of the National Academy of Sciences (Minsk), where he rose from a graduate student to the head of the laboratory. He worked as the head of the laboratory at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and as the head of the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Belarusian State Technological University. From 2004 - Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry at BSU, from 2006 to 2009 - Vice-Rector for Research at BSU, from 2005 to 2010 - Dean of the Chemistry Department of BSU, from 2010 to the present - Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry. In 1978 he defended his PhD thesis in the specialty of Physical Chemistry, and in 1999 he defended his doctoral thesis in the specialty of Inorganic Chemistry.
